Oak Valley
Golf Course Handicap Program
The Oak Valley Golf Course Handicap Committee has
developed a
handicap program that will be utilized again this
year for the Oak Valley
Men’s Golf Association and OVGC sponsored
tournaments. This will be the
fourth year we have utilized this handicap program.
Listed below are some
of the key parts of the program.
-
All members are
required to establish and maintain a certified
handicap in order to participate in any OVMGA
tournaments as
well as OVGC tournaments/golfing events.
-
For those not
desiring to participate in these events a
handicap is
not required.
-
Members are
responsible for posting ALL golf scores in the
clubhouse
system within two days after completing a round
at OVGC. Away
rounds must be posted within two weeks. Away
scores must be
posted with proper course and slope ratings.
-
OVGC Handicap
Committee will monitor the posting of scores and
will periodically and randomly audit the daily
tee sheets and verify that
members have posted scores. All tournament
scores will be verified
by the OVGC Handicap Committee.
-
For tournament
players who continually shoot a lower score than
his
handicap, the OVGC Handicap Committee will be
responsible for
adjusting that “handicap” prior to the next
tournament.
-
Failure by a member
to post a score within the allotted time will
result
in the OVGC Handicap Committee posting a score
for that date equal
to the lowest of the member’s last 20 scores in
the handicap program.
-
If a player
manipulates their scores to influence their
handicap index,
the OVGC Handicap Committee shall have the
authority to adjust or
withdraw their handicap index, depending on the
severity of the offense.
-
Any penalty scores
or handicap index adjustments posted by the
OVGC Handicap Committee may not be removed from
the clubhouse
handicap system unless approved by the OVGC
Handicap Committee.
There are other parts to the handicap program. These
are just some of the
highlights. A copy of this document and a copy of
the complete handicap
program will be posted on the OVMGA bulletin board.
A handicap
established years ago is not a current handicap. A
member should have
their last 20 rounds posted in the system to have a
current handicap. New
members should refer to the Head Pro.
This serves as a reminder so that members utilizing
handicaps will ensure
that they post all their scores
